Paddy O'Connor Tournament 2004
Cloyne captain Phil Cahill welcomes Rathnure of Wexford to Cloyne's new playing facility for the first competitive game to be staged there in August 2004.

Cloyne GAA can be traced back as far as 1887 thus making the club one of the oldest in County Cork. The first officers of the club were,David Lawton (President),D.Sheehan,J.Hoare & John Fitzgerald.
The first reported game was in the Aghada tournament played in Little Island in 1887.Cloyne entered for official  county board championships in 1888/89.
In the early years football was of equal or greater status than hurling. In 1903 Cloyne were drawn against Lees, the then kingpins of Cork football, and lost to the eventual County champions.
Following some fruitless years in hurling Cloyne qualified for the county intermediate final in 1913 but lost to Redmonds.
The outbreak of WW1 in 1914,the War Of Independence and the Civil War made it very difficult for all clubs to field teams and fulfil fixtures during this period.
The East Cork Board was inaugurated in 1924 and Cloyne was one of the affiliated clubs. While some tournaments were played and some won,no success came at Divisional level and so Cloyne GAA was at a low ebb.

Ray Cusack,John O'Lomasney,Paddy O'Sullivan,Donie Cahill,Therese Cahill,Gerry O'Sullivan,Denis Cronin.Seamus O'Brien,Kilian Cronin enroute from Cork to Cloyne in the fund raising walk for the proposed €2 million club development. The people who so generously sponsor Cloyne GAA year in,year out, without their financial input, kindness & tolerance the club would be unable to undertake a lot of the projects that have been ongoing over the last few years.Gerard Beausang ofBeausang Construction has been to the forefront of Cloyne GAA for the last ten years as main club sponsor the club is indeed very fortunate,we have never been found wanting. The Cronin brothers,Cathal,Kilian & Emmet over the last few years have been tremendous with various forms of sponsorship and also their dedication to Cloyne GAA.Dermot Twomey of Cloyne Pharmacy,Cuddigans Foodstore,& The Alley Bar have all been wonderfull supportes & sponsors of the club.More recently Property Partners--Burke Wall have come on board as sponsors of the club executive which is a new departure for Cloyne GAA.With the long term plans for Cloyne GAA,these people are an integral part of the club,we value their input & assistance greatly,we also rely heavily on their sponsorship & endeavour to promote their business at every possible opportunity. We thank them all most sincerely.
