Cloyne will start the 2006 championship trail with a first round tie against Killeagh.This year Cloyne's senior team will be under the stewardship of Sean Motherway as manager,Maurice Cahill as coach,Valerie O'Sullivan will once again be trainer to the squad as she was in 2005.Kevin Lawton & Paul Cahill will be selectors.Peter Hegarty comes back as manager of the junior team,his selectors will be Jerome O'Brien & Mick Lewis.In 2004 Peter was manager of the junior B team when they overcame a highly fancied Carrigtwohill to lift the East Cork championship.
Diarmuid O'Sullivan had the honour of hurling legend bestowed on him in 2005,he has also along with Donal Og Cusack been nominated for an All Star.Along with this he will be hoping to help Cork achieve three in a row All Ireland titles
The 2006 senior hurling championship will have an added ingredient to it - local rivalry.Killeagh hoping that 2006 will see them make the breakthrough & become a force in the senior game,Cloyne on the other hand with their new management structure in place will be looking to complete a journey that commenced four years ago.
Seán Motherway who will be Cloyne's manager for the coming year,he has been involved with Cloyne from the day he could walk,highly respected on & off the field.His brother Declan also another great Cloyne ambassador has also contributed hugely to Cloyne's ambition to secure a first senior title.
James Lynch will be hoping to make an impact in 2006.Last year he was very unlucky with injuries,has great natural ability & potential.
