Sponsorship & The GAA

On February 4th 2006 Westmeath visited Cloyne to play Cork in a challenge game. There was a lot of significance to this particular challenge game in that Westmeath were the the inaugural winners of the Christy Ring cup.It was fitting that Westmeath should visit Cloyne, you could say that the cup was coming home so that the great man could officially endorse it & give it his blessing. On February the 4th 2006 that was fulfilled with great reverence as the magnificent trophy was placed at his feet on his monument in Cloyne,it was another piece of emotional history in the presence of a legend.
